Welcome to the Beaver Colony

It was lovely to welcome back the Beavers this term and have 4 new boys joining the Colony. Our Beavers are already settled well into their new Beaver lodges, the Wood Peckers, Magpies and Robins. The Colony is working on the Safety badge this half term and has been looking at safe playgrounds.  The boys are constructing playgrounds using straws and cardboard and lots of sellotape!!  Last week the weather was so glorious that we walked across to Coronation Field and played games in the setting sun and collected conkers.

During this autumn term our Beavers will be working towards achieving the Creative Challenge badge; wiring circuits, making musical instruments and cooking.  They each get to share their creations with the Colony and are able put together a mini performance show.

Each Section within Scouting has the opportunity to achieve their Challenge badges which do take more commitment and stages than a regular activity badge. These really do give the “Scouts” a great sense of achievement.

Thumper is now a fully invested Beaver Leader and we would like to take the opportunity to warmly welcome her into our Leadership team. Thumper joins us with a wealth of experience and knowledge from her previous life in the Girl Guides organisation.

We welcome any new boys or girls to come and join us on a Wednesday evening. Remember you don’t have to live in Virginia Water to join our Colony; we have Beavers from across the district and welcome you all.
